Like many United States cities, Minneapolis is experiencing rapid growth in transportation technologies leading to new opportunities to enhance sustainable transportation options.
The city is interested in benchmarking best practices for harnessing technology to meet the city’s broader goals of equity, street safety, prosperity, and most importantly climate response. In particular, strategies for managing valuable curb space is of utmost importance, as competing uses may be priced and managed to influence desirable behaviors. The City of Minneapolis hopes to learn from similar communities across Europe regarding successful strategies as well as the measurement of success. We will also provide validation of emerging approaches applied in the European context to the United States urban transport setting. Through this validation we hope to strengthen the approach to sustainable urban transport, and increase the success of cities globally in managing transport for climate response.
