Mobility in the Valencia metropolitan area has continued boosting its intermodality during 2021 by increasing the number of metro stations with “Cicloparc”, the private bicycle parking facilities for all metro users designed by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) in the framework of SPROUT. The Valencian Region already has a total of 5 stations equipped with these bicycle parking facilities, in particular, 4 in Valencia (Torrent Avinguda, Empalme, Alboraya Peris-Aragó and Quart de Poblet) and the most recent one in Benidorm, Alicante.

The managing director of FGV, Anaïs Menguzzato, has stressed that initiatives such as these “favour intermodality and make it easier to use public transport, since in the cycle parks we can leave our bicycle or scooter for a few hours, in a closed place and at no additional cost, to comfortably use other means of transport such as the train or tram”.
During the last few months, the Valencian SPROUT team (FGV, Fundacion Valenciaport and the Municipality of Valencia) has been working on the development of an information system capable of capturing information about the accesses to the Cicloparc. Based on this information, a scoreboard is being designed to monitor the operation of these facilities. This scoreboard includes data on the number of users accessing the facility, average daily users or the average duration of use of the facility.
